THE LARONG Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) will prepare a unified calendar for the various leagues for the benefit of the players.
LVPI president Joey Romasanta said the integration would avoid a clash in the timetable of big tournaments such as the Philippine Superliga and Shakey’s V-League as well as top collegiate tournaments UAAP and NCAA.
“Aside from fixing up the schedules, we’re also concerned about the well-being of the players,” said Romasanta.
He pointed out that most players compete simultaneously in these leagues apart from lesser-known meets, accelerating wear and tear that could eventually take its toll on the players.
The schedule of the PSL and the V-League ran in conflict last month when both leagues held their conference championships. Several players compete in both tournaments.
The LVPI top brass recently agreed to come up with the national calendar with LVPI managing director Benjamin “Chippy” Espiritu tasked to meet with the stakeholders.
Romasanta said the LVPI move has the blessing of the world-governing International Volleyball Federation or FIVB and the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
