Mojica powers EAC over SBC to enter NCAA men’s volleyball finals

Emilio Aguinaldo College survived a gutsy San Beda, 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, 15-9, in a thrilling semifinals match Friday to enter the NCAA Season 91 Men’s Volleyball finals at San Juan Arena.

By virtue of their best record, the Generals had a twice-to-beat advantage in the matchup but it almost came to nothing after the Red Lions roared back in the third and fourth set.

Howard Mojica, though, came to saved the day for EAC and secure the finals berth with 31 points.

The Generals will face the winner of the St. Benilde-Perpetual Help series.

Mojica wasn’t alone on the General frontline as Israel Encina and Kerth Melliza finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Denzel Rasing also pitched in nine points for EAC.

EAC’s offense only drawback was the errors as the Generals committed 50 errors to San Beda’s 38.

Gerald Zabala led the Red Lions with 12 points while Earl Gonzales and Alfie Mascariñas pitched in 11 apiece.
