French tour veteran David Guez encountered a few rough patch in the first before turning back feisty Filipino Alberto Lim Jr., 6-4, 6-0, Monday night in the first round of the ATP Challenger Philippine Open.

The 33-year-old World No. 175 broke early for 2-1 before the 16-year-old Lim broke him back to tie the score and pump up the big crowd at the newly renovated Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

But the 6-foot-2 Guez upped the pressure in the next games on the young Filipino upstart who is ranked World No. 12 in juniors.

The Philippines still have three players in the main draw seeing action Tuesday namely Jeson Patrombon, Francis Casey Alcantara and Ruben Gonzales.
