PH Ladies Open tees off
The in-form Princess Superal leads a formidable local contingent starting today as a Filipino tries to win the Champion Infinity Philippine Ladies Open golf title for the first time in five years.
Coming off a string of five straight victories counting the Hong Kong Am Open two weeks ago, Superal will be coming into the 54-hole event at Tagaytay Midlands as the logical player to beat in the foreign-flavored field that includes bets from Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Japan and Australia.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Midlands, a well-manicured, up-and-down layout carved out of a mountain, poses as a formidable challenge not only because of its length but also its slippery greens and winds that blow hardest at this time of the year.
Not since Chihiro Ikeda in 2011 has a local bet triumphed in this prestigious event, and Superal also wants to improve on a so-so seventh place finish last year.
Superal tees off in the 7:40 a.m. group together with Thai Soisuwan Onkanok, Claire Legaspi and LK Go. Musong R. Castillo
