PBA D-League under way
Powerhouse squads Caida Tiles and Tanduay Light seek to underline their title credentials even as newcomer UP-QRS-Jam Liner faces a stern test on opening day of the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Thursday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Tipped to come up with a strong showing even in their maiden appearance in the D-League, the Tile Masters take on the Rhum Masters at 2 p.m. after the opening ceremonies.
Spearheaded by top collegiate guard Jiovani Jalalon, the Tile Masters also boast of La Salle standout Jayson Perkins and former Adamson gunners Roider Cabrera and Janus Lozada.
Tanduay traditionally fields a formidable squad and its no different this time as coach Lawrence Chongson has formed a five built around veterans Rudy Lingganay, Pari Llagas and Jaypee Belencion as well as ex-Ateneo swingman Von Pessumal.
The Fighting Maroons, beefed up by University of Santo Tomas star Kevin Ferrer, make their debut against BDO-National U at 4 p.m.
