Billups doubtful for Knicks on Tuesday
BOSTON—New York Knicks guard Chauncey Billups was listed as “very questionable” by coach Mike D’Antoni on Monday for Tuesday’s NBA playoff game at Boston due to a left leg injury.
The Knicks, who lost 87-85 at Boston in Sunday’s opener of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference playoff series, would be without their starting point guard if Billups indeed is unable to play.
Billups, who came over with Carmelo Anthony from Denver in a blockbuster February trade, was injured in the final seconds of Sunday’s game with what was diagnosed as a strained left knee or thigh muscle.
Toney Douglas would likely move into the starting lineup if Billups is unable to play.
