Art Arbole comes out on top after playoff

/ 11:02 PM October 14, 2011

MANILA, Philippines – Art Arbole closed out with a one-over 73 and then beat Reymon Jaraula and Clyde Mondilla in sudden death to bag the men’s crown, while Dottie Ardina romped off with the ladies title in the 12th Canlubang Amateur Open at Cangolf’s south course in Laguna Friday.

Arbole, who led in the first round with a 70 but dropped behind a surging Jaraula Thursday, fought back with clutch pars on the back nine to pool 215 for 54 holes and forge the three-cornered title fight.

Arbole birdied the first playoff hole for the victory and the P10,000 champion’s purse.
