Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s nickname is “Money” and he backed it up quite nicely.

Talking to Joe Moore of talkSPORT, the retired boxer reiterated he’s out of the sport for good and his financial status is one of the reasons he’s staying off the ring.

“I will make seven figures a month for the rest of my life,” Mayweather told the radio station as reported by Bleacher Report. “I’ve made some very smart investments and I’m living very comfortably, my children are going to school and will be going to college soon, and that’s what is most important to me right now. I’m just blessed beyond belief.”

Mayweather finished with a perfect 49-0 record, tying heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano. But a crack at a historoc 50-0 card does not entice the once best pound-for-pound fighter, whoever the opponent is.

What the brash American would do, however, is work outside of the ring and help young boxers.

“As of right now I’m not focused on me, I’m focused on the young fighters under the Mayweather Promotions banner, and trying to help those young fighters to be pay-per-view stars,” Mayweather said. “I’m not thinking about who I could fight or who I could come out of retirement for, I just want to get back into the sport in a different way.”

“I’ve been fighting my whole life and as a professional I competed at the highest level for 20 years, so it’s time for me to let the young guys take over.”
