Ravena, Belo head bets for best player

STANDOUTS from UAAP champion Far Eastern University and NCAA king Letran lead the celebration of the varsity season’s finest in the Collegiate Basketball Awards tonight.

FEU coach Nash Racela and Aldin Ayo, the rookie Letran mentor now with La Salle, will receive the Coach of the Year honors in the annual recognition dinner presented by the UAAP-NCAA Press Corps and Smart Sports at Saisaki-Kamayan Edsa.

Ateneo’s Kiefer Ravena, FEU’s Mac Belo, University of Santo Tomas’ Kevin Ferrer, Mapua’s Allwell Oraeme and Perpetual Help’s Scottie Thompson will also be honored in the Collegiate Mythical Five, where one of them will be named as the Smart Player of the Year.

Other awardees include FEU’s Roger Pogoy and Letran’s Kevin Racal (Pivotal Player), San Beda’s Baser Amer, Letran’s Mark Cruz and FEU’s Mike Tolomia (Super Senior), San Beda’s Art dela Cruz and UST’s Ed Daquioag (Impact Player), Arellano’s Jiovanni Jalalon (Accel Court General) and La Salle’s Jeron Teng (Gatorade Energy Player).

Multititled coach Aric del Rosario will be recognized for his accomplishments in varsity sports, highlighted by UST’s four straight UAAP title romp starting in 1993.

The awards night, also backed by UAAP Season 78 host UP, NCAA Season 91 host Mapua, Accel, San Miguel Corporation and the PSC, will be hosted by ABS-CBN Sports courtside reporter Ceej Tantengco.
