Caida used a late spurt to fend off AMA, 103-84, and stay unbeaten in the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Tuesday at Ynares Sports Arena.

Jason Perkins finally found his groove and delivered the goods for the Tile Masters, scoring nine of his team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter pullaway. He also had five rebounds.

Jonathan Grey was also stellar in the duel, finishing with 11 markers, six boards, five assists, and two steals, while Joseph Terso got 12 points.

Caida jumped to a 17-point lead, 57-40 in the third quarter before AMA, leaning behind the trio of Jerramy King, Gab Dagangon, and Rashawn McCarthy, clawed back to the game and trimmed the deficit to just three, 81-78.

But that was the closest the Titans got, as Grey and Perkins conspired to help Caida go on a 22-6 blast to finish the game.

“We were lucky that this was AMA’s first game and the first half was a learning process for them,” said Caida coach Caloy Garcia. “The nice thing is that the confidence of the players never waned  and they worked hard for it.”

McCarthy led AMA with 16 points and six rebounds, while King had 14 markers, five boards, and four assists. Dagangon and Jammer Jamito both had 10 in the defeat.
