Perpetual Help foils EAC to nab 11th NCAA men’s volley title

It’s finally over.

It took five sets to complete but it only needed one service ace to end it all as University of Perpetual Help nipped defending champion Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-22, 23-25, 29-27, 22-25, 17-15, to take home the NCAA Men’s Volleyball crown Tuesday at San Juan Arena

Warren Catipay scored his lone point of the match with a service ace in the final play of the Altas which ended the Generals’ reign.

Down 11-5 in the fifth set, Altas head coach Sammy Acaylar gave one mission order to his team—-show the heart of Perpetual.

“Show them the heart of Perpetual,” Acaylar said in Filipino as he and the Altas took their 11th Men’s Volleyball title. “Nothing is impossible if you want it.”

“I told them, ‘don’t mind the score and just enjoy the game.'”

Bonjomar Castel gave the Altas the 14-13 match point when he blocked MVP Howard Mojica but the Generals fought back to even the score at 15-15.

Disaster eventually struck the Generals when Nicco Bihag committed a net touch error to give the Altas a 16-15 lead.
