Surprise, surprise.

June Mar Fajardo, who missed the first four games of the 2016 PBA Philippine Cup Finals, made his return from a knee injury late in the first quarter of Game 5 on Wednesday night.

Wearing a knee brace to protect his left knee, which he hurt in Game 6 of the semifinals, Fajardo was inserted into the game with 56.3 seconds left in the opening period.

The reigning back-to-back MVP wasted no time in making his presence felt as he immediately scored in his first touch — sinking a jumper from the right elbow over Alaska big man Noy Baclao.

As of posting, the Beermen, trailing three games to one in a best-of-seven, are ahead, 27-24, over the Aces with under nine minutes remaining in the second quarter while Fajardo has six points.
