With Fontana out, Mimosa readies 2 Interclub layouts

MIMOSA Golf Club in Clark Field, Pampanga province, is cramming to get its two courses in championship shape as it hosts the PAL Interclub starting with the Seniors tournament on Feb. 25.

With the adjacent Korean-controlled Fontana course backing out at the 11th hour, Mimosa’s grounds team is working double time to get the 18-hole Mountainview layout and the Acacia and Lakeview nines ready for the Interclub.

“The greens will be faster in time for the Interclub,” Mimosa consultant Jelly Palmes said.

Mountanview, when stretched fully, measures a little over 7,300 yards, while the Acacia and Lakeview nines are both shorter by close to 800 yards.

Canlubang and Luisita are expected to crowd each other for the centerpiece Championship Division titles in the Men’s and Senior brackets.

Men’s action begins on March 2 with Southwoods shooting for a title repeat.
