UNBEATEN teams Cafe France and UP/QRS JAM Liner seek a piece of the lead when they collide today in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Gametime is at 4 p.m. with the Bakers and Fighting Maroons looking to join Caida Tiles on top of the standings with a third straight victory.
The Mindanao Agilas tangle with the Tanduay Rhum Masters in the 2 p.m. clash with both teams seeking breakthrough wins after opening with back-to-back losses.
The Bakers flashed fine form in a 110-86 drubbing of BDO-National U last Thursday, but coach Egay Macaraya believes his team, the core of which powered the Bakers to the D-League Foundation Cup title last year, can still play better.
Macaraya said the duel with the Maroons, who boast a talented frontline, could also prove to be the barometer of their team’s strength.
“They have a strong frontline and I have players who can match up with them, but this game will be a barometer on how good we can be in the tournament,” said Macaraya, who was appointed coach of the San Sebastian Stags recently.
The Bakers drew 22 points from recruit Paul Zamar in their win over the Bulldogs.
