Defending champion Ateneo outclassed Far Eastern University in three sets, 25-18, 25-19, 25-13, in the UAAP Season 78 men’s volleyball tournament Saturday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Three Blue Eagles finished in double-figures with Ysrael Marasigan and Rex Intal scoring 11 apiece while reigning MVP Marck Espejo had 10 points, half of which came at the service line.

In the first game, Adamson also won in straight sets, walloping error-prone University of the East, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23.

Dave Pletado, Jerome Sarmiento and Bryan Saraza each tallied 10 points for the Falcons, who evened their win-loss record to 1-1.

Ateneo has yet to lose a set after repulsing University of Santo Tomas, 25-21, 25-18, 29-27, last Sunday.

The Tamaraws dropped to 1-1 as they failed to ride the momentum of their hard-fought victory over the University of the Philippines Maroons, 25-23, 26-24, 25-22, on Sunday.

Not a single Tamaraw reached double-digits in scoring with Greg Dolor’s measly six points pacing the team.

The Red Warriors, winless in two games, drew a game-high 12 points from their captain Edward Camposano but they couldn’t get their acts together with 28 errors.
