Norris paces Yangon tilt; Lascuña falls

YANGON—South Africa’s Shaun Norris left the chasing pack in his wake by storming up the leaderboard with a sensational 11-under-par 61 after the third round of the Leopalace21 Myanmar Open on Saturday.

Norris, a one-time Asian Tour winner, opened up a commanding seven-shot lead over the rest of his rivals with his three day total of 23-under-par 193 at Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club.

First day leader Tony Lascuña could only match par at 72 and bowed out of contention with a 207 total, 14 shots off Norris.

Lascuña was tied with fellow Filipino Angelo Que, who carded a 67.

Another Filipino, Miguel Tabuena, carded his second straight 71 and was at 209, towing compatriot Juvic Pagunsan, who tumbled with a 75 for 214.

Japan’s Azuma Yano sank his career’s first albatross on 14 which moved him up to second place alongside India’s SSP Chawrasia, and Korea’s Jeunghun Wang and Junwon Park.

Yano wound up with a 66 and was at 200 with Chawraisa (68), Wang (66) and Park (63). Asian Tour
