Coach says Laure still ‘lacks’ consistency as UST falls 0-2

After an impressive rookie season, EJ Laure’s second season is off to a slow start.

Laure, the co-Rookie of the Year last year, is averaging 13 points in the first two games this season, but University of Santo Tomas head coach Emilio “Kungfu” Reyes thinks his prized open hitter can be way better than what she has shown so far.

Reyes assessed Laure’s two-game performance as “below average” and he also knows the Golden Tigresses will need more from their young skipper with the team dropping their first two games.

“She still lacks consistency and she needs to show a little more leadership,” Reyes said in Filipino. “She has yet to have the kind of game that she needs to have.”

Laure scored 11 points in a UST loss to defending champion Ateneo in four sets on Sunday at San Juan Arena.
