Adamson University has spiked its competitive spirit with the appointment of seasoned players Cherry Macatangay and Michele Gumabao as assistant coaches of the Lady Falcons volleyball squad.
Former Lady Falcon Macatangay, played for the national team from 1995-2005 and was the Shakey’s V-League MVP in 2005-06.
Akari brand ambassador and volleyball star Michele Gumabao was UAAP Season 75 Finals MVP, the league’s two-time Best Blocker and a member of the La Salle Lady Spikers that won the UAAP title three years in a row from Season 73.
Now the skipper of her Philippine Super Liga (PSL) team, Gumabao was the All-Filipino Best Opposite Spiker and first Best Opposite Spiker in the 2015 PSL season.
Head coach Sherwin Meneses said the Lady Falcons will strive to make the final four of this UAAP season with the support of Akari, the country’s top lighting and electrical brand.
Akari is also backing Adamson’s men’s basketball team.
“Sports development for today’s youth is one of our brand’s core values and this is why we are supporting the Lady Falcons in their journey to become rightful contenders,” said Russell Balbacal, Lighting and Technology sports director of Akari, which is also backing the school’s men’s basketball team in the UAAP.
