UAAP Season 78 football: Bulldogs, Tigers prevail
Determined to improve on its fifth place finish last season, National University launched its UAAP Season 78 men’s football campaign in style with a 4-0 drubbing of University of the East at Moro Lorenzo Field inside the Ateneo campus in Quezon City.
Substitute Nico Macapal struck twice in the last five minutes after first-half goals from Paolo Salenga and Lawrence Colina set the tone for the convincing victory that pushed the Bulldogs to the top on goal difference.
University of Santo Tomas also grabbed maximum points in its season debut after slipping past Adamson U, 2-1.
Article continues after this advertisementAJ Pasion made an auspicious debut for the Tigers, scoring in the 40th minute before Darwin Busmion doubled the lead early in the second half.
“It’s a good start but we can still do better,” said UST coach Marjo Allado.
