Ateneo, Adamson take top spot in UAAP Men’s Volleyball

Ateneo and Adamson have soared high above the UAAP Men’s Volleyball Tournament landscape as the Blue Eagles and Falcons tied for the top spot early in Season 78.

It was the Falcons who struck first Sunday at San Juan Arena in their match against Far Eastern University, 30-28, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, to establish a 3-1 record.

Dave Pletado and Bryan Saraza had 16 points apiece to lead Adamson while team captain Michael Sudaria added 11.

Jeric Gacutan was the high-point man for the Tamaraws, who dropped to 2-2, with 16 points while Gregorio Dolor pitched in 12.

In the second game, the Blue Eagles went the distance against De La Salle University, 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10, and grabbed an identical a 3-1 slate.

Defending MVP Marck Espejo led Ateneo with 35 points while Ysay Marasigan had 13 points.

Team captain Raymark Woo had 24 points to lead the 1-2 Green Archers as John Onia added 19.
