MARK Fernando teamed up splendidly with amateurs Luis Ramirez, Benigno Victorio and Rolen Paulino as the flight carded a 20-under 52 to rule the ICTSI Anvaya Cove Invitational pro-am tournament at Anvaya Cove Golf and Sports Club in Morong, Bataan, recently.
Marvin Dumandan and teammates Bienvenido Perez, Jimmy Bustamante and Eimie Hedeager assembled a 52 to place second while Jonnel Ababa and Fred Salonga, Mario Pangan and Alex Ong scored 53 to finish third in the event that saw the country’s leading professionals teaming up with amateur partners from the sponsors and backers of the tournament.
Justin Limjap shared the spotlight by taking the most-accurate and longest drive honors on Nos. 5 and 15, respectively. Nico Sevilla seized the nearest-the-hole award on No. 13.
The well-kept, wind-swept layout, part of the 470-hectare property of Ayala Land Corporation and carved out of the Bataan hills near the former United States naval base in Subic, provided a fresh challenge for the men of the tour.
The Anvaya course itself was voted as the best in last year’s ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour topped by four-leg champion and Order of Merit winner Miguel Tabuena.
