Tiu, Millet quickest of the drag lot

JONATHAN Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing and Arvin Jay Millet of TEMZ launched their campaigns in the 2016 Philippine Drag Racing Championship in style by pulling off impressive victories at Clark International Speedway recently.

Living up to his lofty billing, Tiu topped his favorite Quick 8 event before reigning supreme in the M&H Super Pro classes where he paced a 1-2 finish for JCT-Blanche Racing with teammate Jonathan Young.

Not to be outdone, Millet ruled the M&H Pro class, besting a strong field that included Vanni Garcia of Vannitec and Angelo Chua, who finished second and third in that order.

Tiu survived engine gremlins en route to the Quick 8 title. He clocked 12.045 seconds to beat Young (20.152) in the finals. Tiu turned back Jackson Go in the opening round and thwarted Garcia in the semifinals.

Young’s mechanical woes gifted Tiu with his second title in M&H Super Pro class.

Millet prevailed over Ryan Quimpo in the first round, before reaching the finals at the expense of Angelo Chua.

Garcia ousted Tiu in the semifinals. But he couldn’t sustain his form, allowing Millet to top the M&H Pro by clocking 12.019 seconds.

The event, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines, is sponsored by M&H, Sparco, Aguila Auto Glass and GT Radials. Steve Silva, Contributor
