The game becomes easier when you’re sharing.

That was Terrence Romeo’s biggest takeaway after he led GlobalPort to its first win in the 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the expense of Ginebra, 89-85 on Sunday.

Romeo exploded for 41 points but had zero assists in the Batang Pier’s first game that resulted to a blowout loss to Mahindra.

Against the Kings, Romeo scored about half as less but dished out six assists and it led to a big victory.

“Last game, I got 41 points but we lost. I made it harder for myself and my teammates because it wasn’t good for their confidence,” Romeo said in Filipino. “This time, my mindset was to get their confidence up because my scoring will come the moment I hit my shots.”

And his shots did fall, going 5-of-10 from threes, including the go-ahead triple in front of LA Tenorio that put his team up two, 87-85 with 55.5 seconds left to play.

But more than his statline, Romeo said any win won’t be possible if not for his teammates.

“As long as Stanley’s here,” he noted, referring to his backcourt tandem Stanley Pringle, last season’s Rookie of the Year, who also fared better this time out with 14 markers, five boards, and three dimes. “Stanley’s really a big help because he attracts the defense and it opens up for me.”

“Ganun din sa mga big man na dumedepensa sa import, si kuya Billy (Mamaril), si Anthony Semerad. Lahat kami nagtulungan at maganda ang nai-ambag sa team.”

Despite another squeaker against Ginebra, Romeo echoed coach Pido Jarencio’s claims that GlobalPort still does not have the crowd favorite’s number.

“I don’t think so. It just so happen that we scouted them well and it was a collective effort. My teammates were able to contribute,” he said. “And Ginebra’s a different team so we’re always ready when we’re up against them.”
