Impressive in their early games, University of the Philippines’ celebrated rookies hope to play key roles anew as the Lady Maroons try to vault into the top four of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“I hope to help the team not just by scoring,” said Diana Carlos, the Pampanga recruit who topscored in UP’s previous game. “I’m talkative and I also like cheering for my teammates.”

The Lady Maroons battle the Adamson Lady Falcons at 4 p.m., where the winner will join idle Far Eastern University in fourth spot at 2-2.

University of Santo Tomas and University of the East shoot for a first triumph at 2 p.m.

In men’s action, UP and National U, tied at 2-1, try to grab a piece of the lead with the Maroons clashing with the La Salle Green Archers at 8 a.m. and the Bulldogs taking on the University of Santo Tomas Tigers at 10 a.m.

Victories by NU and UP will forge a four-way tie on top with defending champion Ateneo and Adamson at 3-1.

Aside from Carlos, the Lady Maroons have also drawn vital contributions from Isa Molde and Justine Dorog, the two talented rookies from Hope Christian High School.
