Not even his most desperate attempt could land him a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

British boxer Amir Khan, a former champion, claimed he was willing to fight Mayweather for free.

Khan, however, still got turned down, claiming Mayweather chose the “easy way out” in facing an overmatched Andre Berto in his farewell bout last September.

“Obviously we thought we were close to making the fight happen. To be honest with you, Floyd was too scared to fight me,” Khan told TMZ Sports.

“I honestly have to say that, I did everything to make that fight happen. I spoke to my team. I even said I would fight him for free, just to show the world that I’m a better fighter than him. He just didn’t want to fight me and wanted the easy way out,” Khan said.”

Khan found himself left out of the big fights since last year until recently when he finally scored a showdown with Canelo Alvarez set on May 7.
