GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Manny Pacquiao was unable to do his afternoon gym workout Saturday, electing to do an early run around a track oval here.

Chief trainer Freddie Roach gave the eight-division world champion the leeway to either run or train on Friday.

On Wednesday, Pacquiao was also given a training break by Roach.

Roach said Pacquiao’s training for his welterweight showdown with Tim Bradley on April 9 is still well within the timetable he charted.

The Hall of Fame trainer intends to bring Pacquiao to Los Angeles on March 5, Roach’s birthday, for the continuation of training camp at his Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.

According to Roach, a Canadian fighter is arriving Sunday to serve as Pacquiao’s sparring partner on Tuesday.
