De La Salle University put down a spirited University of the East, 25-10, 25-13, 25-21, to tighten its hold of the second seed in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Kim Fajardo stopped the Lady Warriors in their tracks with a smooth drop ball to ensure the Lady Spikers’ 4-1 record, just behind defending champion Ateneo’s 5-0 slate.

Despite the sweep, Lady Spikers head coach Ramil de Jesus said he wants to see more from his players especially in limiting their errors.

“We need to reduce our 25 unforced errors,” de Jesus said in Filipino.

De Jesus, though, still welcomed their standing in the league.

“I’m satisfied because we’re solo second. NU’s loss yesterday (Saturday) was big for us. We’re still looking at how we can polish our game more.”

Mika Reyes led the Lady Spikers with 10 points while Ara Galang and Mary Joy Baron added nine and eight points, respectively.

Shaya Adorador also had 10 points for the Lady Warriors, who dropped to 0-5.
