UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos apologized to his fans and the UFC for pulling out of his championship fight with Conor McGregor due to a broken foot.
Dos Anjos was scheduled to defend his title against McGregor on March 5 in Las Vegas but had to cancel after sustaining an injury during a sparring session.
“Sorry to all my real fans and @ufc, I never cancel any fight due to injury but accidents happen #Jesus #truechampion,” the 31-year-old Brazilian posted on his Twitter account.
His apology came with a photo of his broken left foot.
McGregor will now fight last minute-replacement Nate Diaz, the league announced Wednesday.
