Adamson ended its opening round campaign on a high note after beating University of the East, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19, in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jessica Galanza scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Lady Falcons, who now own a two-game winning streak after a 1-4 start.

Adamson head coach Sherwin Meneses is hoping his team would be able to ride its momentum into the second round — something that the Lady Falcons failed to do last season.

“Last year we had a good start. Hopefully, this time, we’ll finish strong,” Meneses said in Filipino.

Up against a team that hasn’t won since 2012, Adamson had to dig a little deeper than expected — especially with 26 miscues.

The Lady Falcons also had a bad habit of loosening their grip after building big leads throughout the match.

Sahay Adorador had 13 points for the Lady Warriors, who reeled to their 52nd consecutive setback dating back to Season 74 and a 0-7 start but showed some fight in one of their best performances this season.
