ALA to host two more title cards
CEBU CITY—Two world title fights and three boxing cards overseas will fill up ALA Promotions’ calendar for the rest of the year.
On April 23, Nonito Donaire Jr. will stake his World Boxing Organization super bantamweight crown against Hungarian Zsolt Bedak at Cebu City Sports Complex here.
Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum will be at ringside for the 12-round showdown that marks the Filipino Flash’s first defense of the crown he won last year against Mexican Cesar Juarez.

Though Nietes, the longest reigning Filipino world champion, has no named opponent yet, ALA president and CEO Michael Aldguer is looking at either Francisco Rodriguez or Ramon Garcia Hirales, both Mexicans.
ALA stages its second fight card in the United States on July 9 in San Francisco, California, which could be headlined by Albert Pagara and Mark Magsayo, depending on their performances in last night’s Pinoy Pride 35: Stars of the Future at Waterfront Hotel and Casino here.
