This could be the break Jeric Fortuna has been waiting for.

Fortuna, the seldom-used point guard, is reuniting with his former college coach Pido Jarencio after being traded from Phoenix to GlobalPort on Tuesday in exchange for a 2018 second round pick.

The 25-year-old Fortuna was the captain of the University of Santo Tomas team coached by Jarencio that reached the UAAP Finals in 2012.

With a slew of point guards and the emergence of RR Garcia as one of the better guards in the league, Fortuna has dropped out of the Fuel Masters’ rotation — playing in only two of the possible three games this conference while seeing irrelevant minutes.

FEATURED STORIES

Jarencio had been vocal about the possibility of reuniting with his former players and the opportunity to bring in Fortuna opened for the Batang Pier when their star point guard Stanley Pringle went down with a sprained ankle.

GlobalPort is currently on a two-game slide with a 2-3 record — losing to Meralco in its first game without Pringle.
