Ceres-Global UFL battle up
Ceres-La Salle and Global rekindle their fierce rivalry Thursday as they dispute top spot in Group B in the United Football League Cup at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Kickoff is at 6:15 p.m. with reigning UFL league champions Ceres—armed with the most talented roster in the field—seeking a sweep of the group stage.
Global has also won its last four games, but one of those victories—a 2-1 decision over Green Archers—was forfeited after the 2014 league champions exceeded the foreign player limit in their matchday roster.
Article continues after this advertisement“It’s one of those games where the players don’t need a lot of motivation,” said Global coach Leigh Manson. “Nobody wants to lose this game.”
Ceres will also use the match as a warmup for its AFC Cup match in Bangladesh on Tuesday.
In the other match, Kaya tries to seal the No. 2 spot in Group A when it battles Forza at 8:30 p.m.
