Japeth Aguilar had numbers across the board with 14 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a couple of blocks to help Barangay Ginebra beat Mahindra on Wednesday night.

What the stat-sheet didn’t show is his two inadvertent elbows that unfortunately caught his teammates during the game.

One hit Greg Slaughter just below his right eye, the other landed above Mark Caguioa’s in separate instances.

“That time lang, we were just aggressive on going to the ball. It just so happened that my elbow was out and I hit them,” Aguilar recalled. “But I didn’t mean it.”

“I was actually joking him (Slaughter) and told him, ‘Way to catch all my passes, you even caught my elbow.'”

Caguioa and Slaughter, whose cuts had to secured with plasters throughout the game, took the incident in stride and even poked fun at Aguilar through social media — both posting photos of themselves together after the game.

“Thanks @japethaguilar35 for the stitches @gregslaughter. Kung panalo kami every [time] magpapasiko ko palagi sa mukha kay Japeth wag lang sa ilong kasi kawawa naman sya,” Caguioa posted on his Instagram account.
