After going through highs and lows last week, La Salle tries to regain its bearing at the start of the second round of eliminations in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Lady Spikers—who demolished defending champion Ateneo then lost to a lower-ranked University of Santo Tomas—battles Far Eastern University at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan with an eye toward reclaiming its short-lived swagger.

“It’s the second round, so hopefully, we get our confidence back,” La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus said of the Lady Spikers, who settled for second with a 5-2 record at the end of the first round-robin.

The Tigresses, meanwhile, try to make that upset a little more relevant by gunning for a back-to-back against winless University of the East in the 2 p.m. match.

De Jesus couldn’t quite explain how the Lady Spikers played at their finest in shocking the Lady Eagles in straight sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18, only to come back four days later to get whipped by the Tigresses, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21.

The devastating loss blew La Salle’s chance to tie Ateneo on top at 6-1.

In men’s action, defending champion Ateneo (6-1) goes for the solo lead versus Far Eastern University (5-2) at 10 a.m., while University of the Philippines (4-3) and La Salle (1-6) clash at 8 a.m.
