Caida ends elims on a high, routs BDO-NU

Billy Robles and Philip Paniamogan ignited a third quarter run and Caida Tile pulled away in the second half to beat BDO-NU, 89-68, Monday in the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at San Juan Arena.

Robles poured all of his 11 points in the third quarter, while Paniamogan got six of his 12 markers in the pivotal period, to go along with four assists, as Caida Tile unleashed a 17-0 run abridging the third and fourth quarters to erect a 67-47 lead with 8:53 left in the game.

The Tile Masters even lead by as much as  24, 89-65, late in the game.

Jonathan Grey led the way with 20 points and five assists, while Roider Cabrera went 3-of-6 from three to end up with 12.

“I think we just played good in the second half. We started hitting our shots and allowed everybody to try to get confidence for the next round against AMA,” said Caida head coach Caloy Garcia.

The Tile Masters (7-1) will head into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed and will have a twice-to-beat advantage against the AMA University Titans in the quarterfinals next Tuesday.

Alfred Aroga had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds for BDO-NU (2-6).
