San Beda NC overall champ

SAN BEDA may have missed out on the basketball and football titles, but the Red Lions got the biggest prize of all after a smashing campaign on other fronts in NCAA Season 91.

The Red Lions reclaimed the overall championship in the seniors division, edging St. Benilde in one of the tightest races in recent years to complete a rare sweep after pulling off the trick in the juniors division.

The Lions picked up 632.5 points, just five ahead of the Blazers, to collect their fourth overall crown in the last six years.

San Beda struck in men’s and women’s swimming, men’s taekwondo, women’s table tennis, lawn tennis and soft tennis, while finishing second in basketball, women’s taekwondo, men’s table tennis, football and women’s beach volleyball.

The Cubs actually nailed a third straight overall title in the juniors division after notching 405 points, with La Salle Greenhills (355) and Arellano (307.5) settling for second and third place, respectively.

San Beda High’s victories came in basketball, chess, table tennis and lawn tennis while finishing No. 2 in swimming, badminton and football.

After winning back-to-back titles, St. Benilde fell to second despite nailing a first women’s volleyball crown. The Blazers also prevailed in women’s taekwondo, badminton, men’s table tennis and women’s volleyball.
