Café France ousts Wangs, advances to PBA D-League semis
Top-seeded Café France trimmed Wangs Basketball, 90-72, Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena and advanced to the 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup semifinals.
A 19-0 start in the first quarter was all the Bakers needed to establish their momentum as Wangs never got into any offensive rhythm and looked flaccid in the defensive end.
Article continues after this advertisementCafé France head coach Egay Macaraya said his team had to establish their presence early and immediately rattle Wangs’ mindset.
“Alam naming they will not give us the game, we’ll have to take it from them,” said Macaraya. “Kailangan kasi pukpukin para makapagpahinga naman [yung starters.]”
“I want everybody to be healthy for the semifinals.”
Article continues after this advertisementWangs managed to buy some baskets after its disastrous start but it only managed nine to the Bakers’ 26 after the first quarter.
Samboy De Leon led the Bakers with 15 points while Carl Cruz and Alvin Abundo pitched in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Mark Romero and Gwayne Capacio had 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Wangs.
