Ateneo has lost a vital part of its young supporting cast as sophomore Maddie Madayag is ruled out for the rest of UAAp Season 78.

Madayag, who has been a surprise power for the defending champions, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee during the team’s Tuesday training.

Lady Eagles team manager Tony Liao said in a report on sports website Spin.ph that the versatile attacker will undergo surgery after the Holy Week break.

“Confirmed ACL. For surgery na po siya ,” Liao said, as per Spin.ph.

Madayag emerged from the Ateneo bench to become the best server of the first round while averaging 7.3 points per game.
