PSL: Cignal sweeps Foton

Cignal made quick work of Foton, 25-20, 25-18, 25-18, in the 2016 PLDT Home Ultera Philippine Superliga Invitational Thursday at San Juan Arena.
Familiarity worked to the advantage of the HD Spikers as coach Sammy Acaylar’s stalwarts from St. Benilde anchored their team to the win.
Jeanette Panaga topped for Cignal with 21 points, powered by 12 from kills, five service aces, and four blocks.
Jannine Navarro also had 11 markers, while Djanel Cheng got 26 excellent sets.
“It’s great. We don’t expect na ganun ang lalaruin ng players kasi hindi pa ganoong nagba-bond ang players ko, but whatever happened, gusto ko talagang manalo,” said coach Sammy Acaylar.
With the win, the HD Spikers improved to 3-2 as they brace for their next game against RC Cola Army on Saturday.
“Yung confidence namin, nag-develop,” said Acaylar.
Angeli Araneta got 10 of his 11 points from kills in the losing effort for Foton (1-4).
