Foton pips SCTEX five in 2 OTs on Reyes triple

MIKEE Reyes capped his game-long brilliance by nailing a triple with four-tenths of a second remaining that lifted Foton to a pulsating 102-99 double overtime triumph over Byaheng SCTEX Wednesday night in the PCBL Chairman’s Cup at Marikina Sports Center.

The former University of the Philippines guard pumped in 25 points, including six triples, as he helped Foton bucked the absence of top scorer Levi Hernandez (ankle injury) to rise to 2-1.

It was a balanced attack for Foton, which had seven players in double figures. Reyes shone the brightest, though, knocking in the game-winning shot from 25 feet.

“That was the biggest shot of his career,” said Foton coach Budds Reyes. “He was brave taking that shot with the game on the line.”

Later, former finals MVP Jeff Viernes exploded for 24 points as Jumbo Plastic overcame Supremo Lex, 79-70.

Jaymo Eguilos finished with 16 points and Carlo Siruma chipped in 10 as the Linoleum Giants evened their card at 2-2 for fourth spot while pinning a second loss in three games on Supremo Lex. Cedelf P. Tupas
