What’s the best way to get back at the team who slighted you the previous year? Beat them, of course.
That was what the National University Bullpups did as they trounced the San Beda Red Cubs, the team that had beaten them in the 2015 semifinals of the SM National Basketball Training Center.
Making that revenge dish sweeter was that it happened in the Division I Finals.
NU beat San Beda 84-74, and Finals MVP John Lloyd Clemente said they were pumped up for the game not only because it was the title match but also it was against San Beda.
“Gigil, konti po,” Clemente said. “Ginawa ko lang po game plan namin, kaya ano po kasi ang team namin hindi naman one man team.”
His soft-spoken frontcourt partner Justine Baltazar wanted to make most out of his last time to play for the Bullpups in the NBTC.
“Last game na to, at last na chance na makakasali ako dito,” Baltazar said.
