Blog » LeBron tweets us back, and the message is surprising

If it wasn’t for the NBA lockout, this tweet from Miami Heat star LeBron James to me—yes, to me-—which caused quite a stir in Twitterverse’s basketball corner wouldn’t have happened.

Lebron James—seemingly bored while waiting for the Liverpool-Manchester United match—was taking questions from his fans on Twitter last Saturday. And again, if it wasn’t for the lockout, LeBron wouldn’t be anticipating a football match two weeks before the would-be season opener.

So I took a shot with a simple question—and look it where it got me.

Honestly, I was hoping for something like “I prefer boxers over briefs” or “I eat cereals out of the box.” Seriously. I wasn’t expecting LeBron, who bolted out of Cleveland to take his talents to South Beach last year, to wax sentimental about over the question.

Maybe LeBron had too much time in his hands that he finally thought of giving his fans—some of whom might have already burned down his/her extensive LeBron jersey collection (c’mon, we have seen that happen)—a shoutout.

Or we might as well blame the lockout again as players pretty much say whatever they like on Twitter—like the #LeTUsPlay and #UnitedWeStand hashtag movement to win PR points in the warfare which already cost us two weeks of the 2011-2012 NBA season.

I feel, though, that LeBron genuinely misses Cleveland, which stuck by him through those seven unfruitful years. It’s inevitable to miss someone or something that was a part of you for quite sometime. The one-hour special in July 2010 was pure bull, but I still see his leaving purely as a business move.

While cuss words as reactions to LeBron’s tweet was not suprising at all, you’ll be floored by how many fans still feel for him. Some even want him to go back to Ohio!

As for me, I just want the NBA back again.
