THE PHILIPPINE Superliga All-Star squad salvaged some pride despite a gloomy stint by thrashing Hong Kong in a friendly Sunday in Bangkok.
A day after a winless stint in the Thai-Denmark Super League women’s volleyball, the Filipino tossers kept their morale intact after a 25-22, 25-15, 25-20 win.
“We came into the game without any pressure,” said Petron-All-Star coach George Pascua. “Our serves were very impressive. Obviously, we were the better team against the Hong Kong team in that tuneup match.”
The Filipinos earlier dropped all their three games against top clubs in the tournament.
Hong Kong team manager Li Yuk Hing praised the fighting style shown by the Filipinos who, unlike their counterparts, were culled from different PSL clubs and had very few practice time together. He said the Philippines is welcome to bring its team to the Crown Colony for another series in June. Marc Anthony Reyes
