Phoenix survive Lastimosa, Blackwater in OT

Phoenix outgunned Blackwater in overtime, 124-120, in the highest-scoring game this season and arrest a two-game slide in the 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Mac Baracael and import Kevinn Pinkney scored 21 points each to lead the Fuel Masters, who gave their playoff bid a boost with a 3-5 card.

Phoenix overcame Carlo Lastimosa’s outburst in the second half including OT. Lastimosa scored 26 of his 28 points in the last 29 minutes of the game.

The former College of St. Benilde star had the chance to win it for the Elite, but he failed to complete a four-point play with 0.9 tenths of a second left in regulation.

Pinkney missed a tough baseline turnaround as time ran out in regulation with both teams tied at 109.

Rookie Art dela Cruz added a career-high tying 21 points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals for Blackwater (3-7), which suffered its fourth straight defeat.

MJ Rhett had one of his best games as Blackwater import with 18 points, 25 rebounds and four blocks in a losing effort.
