National University swept University of the Philippines, 25-19, 25-23, 27-25, Wednesday to stay in the hunt for a Final Four spot in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament at San Juan Arena.
Jorelle Singh came alive in the clutch for the Lady Bulldogs to tie the third set at 23-23, after trailing by 14-10, then the 25-24 match point.
Isa Molde tied the set at 25-25 before back-to-back errors from her side gave NU the victory and a 6-6 record.
Lady Bulldogs head coach Roger Gorayeb saidknows every remaining game in their schedule is a do-or-die affair as they currently sit in fifth place.
“What’s happening to us, isang paa nasa hukay,” Gorayeb said. “Every game is a last chance, pag matalo wala na, buti ngayon nanalo. Next game last chance uli.”
UP slipped into a tie with Far Eastern University in the third and fourth spot at 7-5.
Myla Pablo finished with 14 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs while Jaja Santiago and Singh added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
No one from UP finished with double-digit scoring performances with rookie Isa Molde its high-point lady with nine.
