Filipino boxer Rogen Ladon trumped Indian Devendro Singh Laishram Thursday in the Asian/Oceanian Qualification of the International Boxing Association (Aiba) to clinch a spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Ladon claimed a 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, decision from the judges and was the first Filipino boxer qualify in the Rio Olympics.
He is poised to take the gold in the men’s light flyweight division.
Finalists in all divisions earn an Olympic berth while the losing semifinalists will duke it out for the third spot.
