De La Salle University made quick work of a listless University of the East side, 25-16, 25-17, 25-11, to lock up a twice-to-beat advantage in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Mary Joy Baron pushed the Lady Spikers at match point, 24-10, winning the joust against two Lady Warriors.

Lady Spikers head coach Ramil De Jesus said his players can now play without the added pressure of trying to take a semifinal spot with his team already assured of a top two finish after picking up its 10th win in 12 games.

“Makakalaro na sila nang di kailangang kailangang manalo, sa side ng players parang considered as tuneup games na lang (They can now play relaxed with the remaining games somewhat considered as tuneup games),” De Jesus said, who never discounted the pride at stake every time they play.

“Hindi kagaya dati na papasok ka sa court pressured ka (Not like before where there’s added pressure every time we hit the court).”

Kim Dy and Ara Galang led the Lady Spikers (10-2) with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Shaya Adorador had seven points for the Lady Warriors, who could be headed for another winless campaign at 0-12 with only two games left. UE has now lost 57 straight games.
