Ateneo secured the last twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four after dumping Adamson, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Jhoana Maraguinot sealed the victory for the two-time defending champions with her fearless attempt beating two Lady Falcons as the Lady Eagles rose to 10-2.

Despite only committing 19 errors to Adamson’s 21, team captain Alyssa Valdez hopes her team won’t make that many mistakes in their coming games.

“We really didn’t have a super okay game. We had a lot of errors, we had miscommunications and much more,” Valdez said. “We have to improve on that during practice to be consistent during games. We still have a lot to fix.”

Adamson committed a costly team error that put Ateneo at match point, 24-18.

Valdez was the high-point lady anew as she finished with 16 while Amy Ahomiro and Maraguinot had 15 and 12, respectively.

La Salle claimed the first twice-to-beat incentive after beating University of the East in straight sets.

No Lady Falcon scored in double figures with team captain Mylene Paat the nearest to the mark with nine while Erika Alkuino had eight as Adamson dropped to 3-9.
