PALM SPRINGS, California—The firm, bulging body muscles of Timothy Bradley are physical proof that James Rougely has done his job well.

And each time Bradley breezes through his training regimen further validates his readiness to tangle with Manny Pacquiao for the third time on April 9.

“Timothy is peaking. He’s peaked,” said Rougely, Bradley’s strength and conditioning coach Friday as the five-time world champion gave the media and fans alike a peek on his current physical shape.

To say that Bradley wowed the crowd was an understatement.

“It wasn’t six-pack, but a 12-pack,” said a female reporter of Bradley’s chiseled abs.

Rougely, a former member of the United States Army once assigned in Germany, said Bradley’s physical shape is a prodict of a gradual, constant and often grueling build-up.

Scientific in his approach, Rougely said Bradley’s training is actually divided into four phases designed for different areas of concern.

There was barbell day, body day, field day and weight day.

According to Rougely, he makes Bradley lift weights and balls no heavier than 25 pounds, primarily to strengthen neck muscles. On the second day, he makes Bradley do the trampoline for balance and for a whole-body workout.

The third day is primarily dedicated to running at different distances with different times.

And the fourth day focuses on straight bar, bench and ball exercises.

Roguely said that during Tuesdays and Thursdays, he monitors Bradely’s progress. To find out where he is progressing and where he is lagging.
