UNDERLINING the strength of its program, International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) bagged all but two of the six titles at stake in the 2016 Little League Philippine Series, which ended Sunday in Naga City.
ILLAM claimed two titles each in softball and baseball with its Little League softball squad also prevailing to clinch a berth in the Asia-Pacific tournament which serves as the qualifier for the World Series in the US.
The other titles of ILLAM came in Junior League Baseball, Senior League Baseball and Junior League Softball.
ILLAM’s softbelles overcame Pasig, 19-18, to retain their crown at Ateneo de Naga, 19-18, while the Junior Leaguers blanked Marikina, 2-0, for the crown. The Senior Leaguers slipped past Tanauan, 8-6, in their gold-medal match at Metro Naga. ILLAM’s Junior League softball squad also claimed the title at the expense of Tanauan, 3-2.
Also punching its way to the AsPac championship is Iloilo which topped the centerpiece Little League baseball event via a sweep capped by a 7-6 nipping of Tanauan.
Makati ruled the Senior League Softball competition after hammering out a 5-3 win over Bulacan, 5-3.
